Painter  Maria Floyd

"When viewing a Maria Floyd painting one feels completely immersed in the elements she depicts; there is a feeling of frenzy and of weather and tide engulfing the viewer; one feels like you’ve waded into deep water and the wind is howling overhead."

Maria studied at Goldsmiths and lives and paints in North Cornwall, she paints in mixed media; materials that can be painted, rubbed, scratched or thrown at the canvas or board. The elemental quality is raw and not contained, the paint is applied vigorously and with a tangible sense of movement. Maria works often with a monochrome palette and lets the drawn elements remain.
