Vicki paints landscape and coast from her experience of working on-site; her sketches have an immediate quality, born from an emotional response to her visits. She has walked and sketched since childhood and when she paints on these sites she brings all her experience to that moment.

 

Vicki’s perspective is free of inhibitions and limitation; she uses high quality, pigmented paint and knows the colours of the seasons very well, often working off colour grounds of coral, red, burgundy and warm Naples yellow to capture the light and weather of a day in any season- dawn till dusk.

 

Her sketchbooks are brimming with multiple sketches worked on throughout a day, with colour notes and written observations as if in a journal. These sketches are available at The Square Gallery, along with larger-scale works on canvas.
